Several years ago, third, fourth and fifth grade students transformed an area of weeds into a Science Park. They covered it with wood chips, and then laid out large geometric shapes made of landscape logs. Finally, they planted prairie flowers and grasses inside the shapes.
The next step is to add some scientific instruments to the area. First on the list is an anemometer to aid in weather studies. We expect to raise the money ourselves for a commercial quality anemometer. Once purchased, we will do all the work to install the pole and the anemometer ourselves.
We have a nice long concrete wall along one side of our school. It should be a great place to paint a mural! With adequate study and preparation, we will design a mural showing all the peoples who have lived in, and contributed to, our area. This one ought to be FUN!
